There are many minors and Young adults on dialysis who are giving up treatment everyday or skipping because they are unable to take care of themselves. AKF recently launched the adopt a Kidney Patient program as a way of getting long term sponsors for these very vulnerable group of dialysis patients. This has been very successful as we continue to work with the various Dialysis centers in Cameroon and our Foundation Volunteers to identify these Patients.
So far, 12 patients have been adopted by people of goodwill world wide and 2 of these patients are deceased. If anyone is interested to leave a lasting impact I the life of a vulnerable patient as a way of giving back, there is no better way than to adopt a kidney Patient.
